Hear why Brian founded Skipton Properties

Brian founded Skipton Properties in 1986. Unimpressed with the quality of house building at the time, he set out to do better.

Over the years he has assembled a team of highly skilled craftsmen, each of whom he valued hugely and who are all proud of the level of quality we’ve become known for.

Brian unfortunately passed away after a short battle with myeloma in April 2022, but his legacy lives on in his two daughters who ensure his values continue.

I joined our Sales Team almost 21 years ago before graduating to the role of Operations Director, focusing on planning and land.

I became Managing Director in early 2019. I lead on the overall strategy for the business and oversee the construction of our homes from start to finish, with the help of our highly skilled team of engineers, builders, surveyors and buyers, ensuring the highest possible standards of workmanship throughout. My guiding principle is that every home we build is done so as if it were going to be my own.

I joined the business over ten years ago. having spent the earlier part of my career with M&C Saatchi. As a Director with responsibility for leading Sales, Marketing and Design, I work closely with our team to assess the design of our homes, inside and out.

I strive to ensure our customers have a great experience when buying their new home.

I joined the Family team in 2018 having spent the prior ten years working in senior finance roles in London.
 
My role covers all things financial including land acquisition, funding and cashflow, overseeing our Commercial and Financial Admin teams as well as supporting the Sales and Operational teams.
 
One of our primary values is the quality of our homes.  It’s wonderful to be able to offer quality homes on stunning sites whilst keeping our prices at great value.

I joined the family team 9 years ago as a Quantity Surveyor, during this time my role developed and a couple of years ago I was appointed Pre Construction Manager with responsibility for overseeing all new sites from purchase through to planning prior to handing over to the Construction team.

I have a keen eye for detail, and I am also responsible for using the feedback we receive from our homeowners to re-imagine the designs of the homes in our portfolio.

I’ve been a Quantity Surveyor since 2006 at various construction companies throughout Yorkshire and joined the team in early 2022. Most recently, I was promoted to Head of Commercial.

I work closely with our Buyer to support our Site Managers and make sure they have everything they need on the development to build our homes. I also review all of our house type designs from a materials perspective so we’re building the best homes we can.

Collaborating closely with our Creative and Design Director to ensure smooth sales and top-tier customer experiences. With over 11 years in the property sector and 7 years in new builds, shes a dedicated professional!

Previous to Skipton Properties I worked in accounts for a large franchise company. When the role of Finance Manager at Skipton Properties became available, it was a great opportunity for me to further my career and take the leap into the construction industry.

My background has always been in accounting. Previous to Skipton Properties I worked for an accountancy firm in Leeds, where I worked towards, and gained, my IAB book keeping qualification.

Following a background in Design and working as an Artworker for many years I felt it was time for something new…which led me to start my current role in 2017 here at SP! 
 
I work alongside the pre-construction team on planning, services, legal agreements, including assisting to manage our new internal system, Procore. 
 
Living in an SP home myself since 2015 gives me a better understanding of our new homes process.

For almost a year now, I have been working at Skipton Properties and have acquired significant experience as a member of the sales team.

More recently, I’ve moved to the pre-construction department and currently hold the position of Assistant to the Pre-Construction team. I’m thrilled about the potential for growth within my new role at SP and the opportunity to expand my expertise in the industry.

Bailey and Lola are our unofficial mascots! Bailey, our 1 year old puppy is very smart and uses her good looks to get treats. Lola is 3 and greets almost everyone with a growl but she’s a softy at heart! Bailey and Lola are Sarah, our MD’s dogs, but belong to the office staff between the hours of 0800-1700 Monday-Friday!

I have worked at Skipton Properties now for four years as Site Engineer.

I started work to become a surveyor as a chain boy in the sunny climate of Brisbane and I have worked in some really interesting locations in the past!

My role as site engineer is a full time permanent one and I enjoy every day on site!

Craig Turpin

SITE ENGINEER

I’m what you call a lifer, having worked for the company for 35 years. Many changes have taken place over three decades but Sarah and Caroline still live and breathe the values their father stood for.

I started as a bricklayer but quickly moved into the role of management. I’m a stickler for detail and have overseen a large number of our almost 4000 homes built to date.

A couple of days each week, I’ve come out of retirement to work as an advisor alongside the customer care team.

I’ve worked for Skipton Properties for 28 years! I first met Brian, our founder, over 30 years ago, helping him on some of the company’s first developments. 

Today, I manage all of our Civils work, so a lot of what I do goes unseen by our customers. I also manage all of our plant machinery; we’re a little bit different to other developers in that we own a lot of our own machinery, which means we can take on challenging developments with difficult topography. I love what I do, there’s always a challenge, but the finished homes we build make it all worth it.

My entire career has been in construction, and I first started working for Skipton Properties 26 years ago, as a plasterer. I was then promoted to Assistant Site Manager, and eventually progressed up to Site Manager and even more recently Senior Site Manager!

I get a real sense of achievement watching sites evolve from green and brownfield sites to beautiful stone homes.’

I have worked in construction for just over eight years and am delighted to be joining the Skipton family as an Assistant Site Manager. I have found myself relocating to Yorkshire with my family; I have two daughters, Milly who is 12 and Bella who is 2. Both girls keep me on my toes! I spend my weekends with them exploring the great outdoors as I love adventure. 

I am full of positive energy and eager to make a positive contribution to the Skipton team and its customers.

I help manage our sites having amassed 36 years’ experience in the construction industry! Starting as Site Manager 6 years ago I know and appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into every home from start to finish. I love the sense of achievement you get from handing over a new home to a happy customer!
 
Having lived in the Skipton area my whole life I like to think I know a lot about the areas in which we build.

Tom Raveglia, has joined us as Site Manager. With 6 years of experience in the house building industry. Tom’s journey began as a labourer, and he swiftly climbed the ranks to become a Site Manager.

When we asked Tom about what sets Skipton Properties apart from the competition, he highlighted the exceptional quality of our finished projects and the convenience of having in-house machinery.

I started as Site Manager back in September 2021. I am responsible for ensuring we are working in line with the build programme whilst carrying out my day-to-day tasks such as; organising the contractors on site and monitoring our health and safety regulations. 
 
There are a variety of different areas of my job I like the most, including the staff that I work with on a daily basis, it’s also great to see a happy customer move into their new home!
