This Christmas we’re raising funds for Manorlands, a Sue Ryder hospice that carries out essential work in our local area and is very close to our hearts.
The Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, which provides expert palliative care for people at the end of their lives as well as supporting people with life-limiting conditions, costs £10,000 a day to run and is experiencing a serious shortfall in funding due to the COVID-19 pandemic (a shortfall of as much as £1.5 million), so we’re trying to raise as much we possibly can to support it.
Besides socially-distanced bake sales, we recently kicked off our virtual fundraising challenge, which will see members of our team joining in individually to walk, run, cycle or swim the distance from our hometown of Skipton to the two European towns it’s twinned with – Erquinghem-Lys in France and Simbach in Germany. Between us we need to cover a total distance of 912 miles in four weeks, so if you felt kind enough to sponsor us in aid of this fantastic local charity, we’d be very grateful indeed.
